Background
Born and raised in Yukon, Phil is a third generation landowner and
life-long resident of Canadian County. His four children all attended
Yukon schools and all graduated from Oklahoma State University. He is a
member of the United Methodist Church of Yukon, Past President and
member of the Board of Directors of the Yukon High School Alumni
Association, Past President of the Yukon Round Up Club, 40-year member
of the American Legion, avid supporter of Canadian County 4H and FFA
Livestock Show and Sale, and member of the Canadian County Republican
Party. Phil is a retired Chief Master Sergeant of the United States Air
Force Reserve with thirty-one years of duty.
Accomplishments as Your Commissioner
- Commissioner Carson began a very successful Inmate Labor
Program at District
1, saving his district tax dollars.
- Using a variety of county, state, and federal funds, all
allocated to bridge-building, Phil has built over 45 new bridges and
devices in his district.
- District 1 has over 417 unincorporated roads to maintain, as
well as roads maintained in cities through inter-local agreements. Phil
improved the District 1 chip seal crew, and has improved roads all over
his district with rock and shale, and through grants from the state, has
laid asphalt on several busy roads.
- Phil holds
an Advanced Commissioner Certification through the County Training
Program at OSU, and all his workers have completed the Roads Scholar
Program, a series of classes through the Local Technical Assistance
Program.
