Marie Ramsey-Hirst moved to El Reno and has lived in Canadian County since 1978. Marie has three children and six grandchildren. Ramsey was elected and sworn in January 2009 as your Court Clerk. She received her Court Clerk Certification the 22nd day of April 2010.
Since becoming Court Clerk Marie has made many changes. Passports have been implemented so that citizens can apply and obtain their passports here in Canadian County. The employees of the Court Clerk's Office are scanning old documents into a Prostar Storage System so all paper documents will become electronic files. Microfilm is currently being converted and indexed before it is lost due to deterioration. Many of the documents being converted are from the 1890's. Storage space is limited so this will afford the ability to destroy the paper copy yet preserve them for future generations through online access.
Access to documents online began in 1992. The goal of the Court Clerk's Office is to get all older documents into a storage system and eventually have it set up for public online searches. This technology is making searches for the public easier and less time consuming.
Credit card payments have been implemented for any court costs or traffic tickets. Credit card owners must be present with ID. Visa, MasterCard and American Express are accepted. Prepaid cards from other entities are not accepted. In the future the Court Clerk's office will be accepting online payments and filings done by fax.
E-citations allow Highway Patrol troopers to file traffic tickets electronically.
Citations are received more quickly and makes assisting you with your questions or concerns quicker. Canadian County Sheriff's office should be on line with the E-citation program within the next year.
The above are some of the new updates Marie Ramsey-Hirst has implemented since taking office. The main goal of the Court Clerk's office is to serve the public to the best of their ability in your quest to file a case or search the courts for any information you may need.
